Calkwalk by BandLab is a 100% free DAW. Unfortunately for me I had already invested around $600 before Roland sold to BandLab and they made it free.

If your looking for a great DAW with a great price tag, FREE, I suggest you download it.

I use Calkwalk mostly for recording dry audio and MIDI tracks and getting a pre-mix.

I found the Piano Roll Midi Editor one of the easiest MIDI editors of my three DAWs to work with.

I also use it to test out different effects, and ideas before I export the tracks for the final mixdown.

I found Calkwalk one of the easier DAWs to learn, and get around on, and would work well for seasoned engineers as well as the beginner.
